What is causing the Monito del Monte to be endangered/near-threatened??? Construction and urbanisation also trespass on the Monito del Monte’ habitat. It's preyed upon by domestic cats and introduced black rats. Leading to it to be near threatened.

Where does the Monito del Monte live???? Forests in south-central Chile.They usually live in trees. Monitos del monte live in the dense forests of highland Argentina and Chile, mainly in trees, where they build nests of water resistant colihue leaves.These animals are nocturnal and adapted to climbing trees using their tails, large paws , and thumbs. What does the Monito del Monte??? They eat insects,larvae,and pupae from branches on trees and in bark crevices.During the summer time these animals usually eat fleshy fruits(mistletoe fruit). Reasons why the Monito del Monte is near threatened??? 1.Habitat loss-Their habitat is being loss because of construction and the cutting of trees 2.Preyed by domestic cats-The number of Monitos del Monte are also decreasing because they're being preyed by predators 3.tick ixodes neugenesis-If they do have a chance of surviving the tick may kill because they carry these disease. What conservation actions do we need to take to protect it??? We need to stop cutting the trees. If we stop cutting trees in the forests in Chile . The Monito del Montes will be able to continue to thrive . Water protection would also be nice. Fun facts!!!! Monitos del monte were here on Earth when dinosaurs were alive.Monitos del monte are able to survive a poisonous snake bite. Their immune system is very strong , so they don't get sick often.Monitos del monte have an excellent sense of smell, which they rely on for hunting. Their eyesight and hearing is very poor . It helps because they're nocturnal.
