Sand Cats
Sand cats are a small solitary cat native to deserts in Africa and Asia, they can adapt to life in the desert, they can live without water run on shifting sand and find prey underground. Sand Cats have hair and pads on the bottom of their feet that protect them from the intense heat and cold weather of their habitat as well as letting them move across the sand the pads are what help them move through shifting sand, they also prevent them from burning the bottoms of their feet. Because their paws are so furry they don’t leave any footprints in the sand.
Sand cats reach full maturity at around age 10 but can live up to 13 years, though they rarely live that long. They can grow up to 16 to 18 inches in length and are around 4 to 8 pounds their tail is about 9 to 12 inches long. The color of a sand cat is normally like a beige, light brown or greyish color, they have black stripes on their legs and have black coloring on the tips of their ears. Sand cats are carnivores, this means that they are meat eaters, they like to eat small rodents such as, snakes, lizards, birds, and insects they bury leftover food in the sand and come back to it later. In conclusion sand cats are very cute yet very prejudice animals that live good long lives though are endangered by the many kinds of predators that it has to worry about in nature.
