Blue Whales
The blue whales are fascinating creatures. But unfortunately they are becoming endangered. Blue whales have been around for millions of years, and have been endangered ever since the 1970’s. They are. Mostly becoming endangered due to habit loss, habit toxicity, ship strikes, and possibly even fish nets. The blue whale lives in most blue whales can be found living in the Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, and the Antarctic Ocean, and have been known to eat euphausiids, a kind of fish that is mostly is consumed by blue whales. If everyone helps, than we can stop blue whales from going extinct. There are many ways we can help blue whales survive, here are some ways. Norway and Iceland kills about 1000 whales every year for commercial hunting, and that’s a huge issue. If we can prevent so many whales from being hunted, then that can definitely slow down the whale killing process. Another huge thing that can help is if we can stop polluting in the ocean. It’s been a problem for decades now, but if we can spread awareness, then just maybe we could help save whales including other fish and animals in the ocean. We could also Support the International Whaling Commission’s ban on Japan’s “scientific” whaling and support whales. Removing dams also supports whales by increasing the fish food supply for them in the Pacific Northwest. Currently, there are about 10,000-25,000 blue whales left in the world. The hunt for blue whales began in 1868 with modern harpoon cannons. It has been banned to hunt them In in Norway in 1905 and Iceland in 1915. Nine Blue Whales were killed, plus some serious injuries were attributed to ship strikes on the west coast of North America during 2007-2013 which was tragic. Like I said the blue whales are amazing creatures that are endangered and need our help if they want to survive. So spread the word to help people be more aware of how much of a big issue of how small the blue whale population is.
