The Amazing Tiger

Tigers are one of the coolest animals in the entire world. Unfortunately, they are endangered and have a chance to become extinct! There are many reasons to why this is occurring. One of them is the housing and urban areas & tourism and recreation areas. An example of this is in the Amazon Rainforest of South America where developers clear hundreds of thousands of acres and is used for cattle ranches, logging and urban use. Some other reasons are fire & and fire suppression and problematic native species/diseases. In some cultures it is believed that by hunting tigers, their body parts to heal a human diseases such as rheumatism and typhoid fever. Aside from this, it is said that the main reason why tigers are endangered are illegal hunting. Hunters use tigers for their pelts, and their meat.

The tigers’ habitat is in Asia. Other tigers such as the Siberian tiger tend to live in colder areas such as eastern Russia and northeastern China.

The ecosystems that the tigers can live in are tropical forests, evergreen forests, riverine woodlands, mangrove swamps, grasslands, and more. Now, you might be wondering, are there ways to help this endangered species? Yes! Some conservation actions we can accomplish are habitat & natural process restoration, site/area protection, and much more! Here are some names of wildlife conservations around the world that home tigers that are being endangered. The Black Jaguar-White Tiger Foundation in Mexico and Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida.

Thanks to these websites, I was able to gather the info that I needed to write this blog: they include IUCNRedlist, LiveScience, and AllAboutWildlife.

In my opinion, people need to realize that any type of animal can be endangered. We can educate ourselves and learning how and why these tigers are endangered. By doing so, we can take interest in learning about tigers and different organizations that help them and either volunteer or be a sponsor.
